A campsite run by Land og skógur (Iceland's land and forestry agency) in Vaglaskógur, one of Iceland's largest forests, in Fnjóskadalur valley about 17 km from Akureyri through the Vaðlaheiði tunnel. In summer it has five camping areas; in winter only a car park for campers is open.[1][2]

Practical tips
- Bookings go through Parka (parka.is/camping/vaglaskogur/), and tjalda.is says not to camp unless a slot can be booked there. On 1 November 2026 Parka's page said online booking for Vaglaskógur had not been activated, so call the campsite.[1][2] (checked 2026-11-01)
